Jordan Love and the Packers have an 'immature' performance in loss to Panthers, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky says
ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky is often complimentary of Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.
Not today.
And you can't blame him.
The former quarterback turned broadcaster laid into Love, coach Matt LaFleur and the Packers for what he calls "an immature" showing in their 16-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 2 at home as a nearly two-touchdown favorite.

“I’m concerned," Orlovsky said during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Nov. 3.
Orlovsky highlighted a few reasons for why.
"Yesterday’s such an immature performance by the Packers," said Orlovsky, who predicted Love would be MVP before the season began. "Let’s just call it what it is. It's immature."
Orlovsky referenced the first snap of the game for the Packers offense when Green Bay called a ball fake with a crossing tight end. Instead of finding a wide open player for what Orlovsky said would be at least a 40-yard gain, Love instead moved out of the pocket "unnecessarily" and chose a screen pass to Josh Jacobs for a 7-yard gain.
"He's looking complete opposite side of the field," Orlovsky said. "Where are your eyes? The inconsistency of his eyes were concerning."
That wasn't all. "The inconsistency of his decision-making," Orlovsky said. "He has two balls that are just 'F it' balls."
One of these, of course, was Love's interception. On the play, Love launched a ball deep on first and 10 from the Packers' 24-yard line with 6:42 left in the third quarter into double coverage as he looked for Christian Watson. It never had a chance and the safety Tre'von Moehrig was waiting for the ball as Watson and his two defenders were trailing the underthrown ball.

Packers still just trailed, 7-6, at the time. But a long return by Moehrig set up a Panthers touchdown.
"Why?" Orlovsky questioned. "Why are we ... it's first and 10. Look at his mechanics. He's too good of a player to do this stuff. He's too of a player to play the way he did yesterday, decision-making wise."
Besides Love's play, Orlovsky highlighted coach Matt LaFleur's play calling.
Orlovsky called LaFleur an "outstanding" coach. But he feels that LaFleur tries to get too cute.
"We're trending toward a direction where we're too dependent on creativity," Orlovsky said.
He said he thinks the Packers expect to "outscheme, out-create things for people."
"Sometimes it is just about calling basic plays and outexecuting people or out-physicaling people," Orlovsky said. "I'm like can we just line up and run normal plays occasionally?"
And then there's the offensive line, which allowed Panthers defenders to go untouched on a couple pressures and has led to an overall lackluster run game this season.
"This team can’t go to the Super Bowl with this offensive line," Orlovsky said. "They’re getting physically beat far too often. This offensive line has been suspect all year and they’ve skated by with it. Unless it gets better they’re not going to go be who they should be from a team goal perspective."
